The trouble with sleep is
Some days you’re like a cloud.
I look up at you and wonder,
“What does that feel like?”
The trouble with sleep is
Sometimes you are ready for me,
But I am not ready for you
So, sadly, we miss each other.
The trouble with sleep is
Occasionally I push you aside
And work hard to avoid you.
Then you return the favor
The trouble with sleep is
Often when you find me
I’m so busy I shouldn’t, but I do.
Then we both regret it later
The trouble with sleep is
I need you so bad, but
I can’t seem to hold onto you
And you have no hands to hold me
The trouble with sleep is
I know how much I need you
And how much I want you,
But you won’t stay with me.
The trouble with sleep is
Is probably me….
Can’t we just get along? I’m trying here.
I’m guessing you can tell when I wrote this. There is also a chance that you have felt the same in your relationship with sleep. We all know the ways to help get better sleep, but we don’t always follow that advise. Aren’t we so smart. Ha!
I wrote this for myself, but also just wanted to share it with others. Comradery of the sleepless, I guess. Let me know if you feel the same or if you have a favorite trick for getting sleep when it’s avoiding you.
